Synopsis: TV's infamous lemon-yellow family (not to mention longest running TV series) finally hits the big screen with their movie debut. Surprisingly, instead of the soundtrack for this movie being scored by the usual Danny Elfman bloke, this time around veteran composer Hans Zimmer takes the helm of the movie's music. While purists may argue about the ethics of it, one can't help but feel that Zimmer's done quite a good job as well. On the positive side, at least the score does justice to the Simpsons family and overall, to Matt Groening. Remember, this review isn't to undermine Elfman's previous work, nor is it to glorify Zimmer's latest score outing. In my opinion, both men are equally as impressive and perhaps just this once, we may look at the Simpson's universe through Zimmer's eyes. Note also just like The Dark Knight OST, all the track titles are taken from actual dialogue lines in the movie. As Danny Elfman diplomatically puts it, "Sometimes you're the windshield, and sometimes you're the bug". Well said, Mr. Elfman.
Recommended Tracks: The Simpsons Theme, Trapped Like Carrots, Doomsday Is Family Time, Release The Hounds, Spider Pig, Recklessly Impulsive.
